Related to last week’s blog post on internet blocking software to avoid procrastination and help you focus on your work, I would like to share something that will jolt you into a new way of organizing your day.
“If the first thing you do every morning is eat a live frog. Then nothing worse can happen to you for the rest of the day.”
Time Management expert Brian Tracy has a technique called “Eat That Frog.” He recommends you tackle your yuckiest project first thing in the morning. Get it out of the way and you will not only dodge the procrastination bullet, but you will feel more motivated the rest of the day instead of having that odious task weighing you down. (Did I mix enough metaphors?)
At the beginning of the day when you have the most energy and your brain is at its sharpest pay those bills (my particular frog), write that letter, map-out that project, or call that prospect, instead of checking your emails or cruising the internet. Get those tough or uncomfortable jobs done and you will approach the rest of your day energized to do what you enjoy.
“Eat That Frog” first thing every day for thirty days and see how much more productive and motivated you will be.
Here is a brief (1:29 minute) video Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy.
